‘Transylvania Airport’ on the list of national interest institutions

Targu Mures – Targu Mures Vidrasau Airport becomes, according to a governmental ordinance, an institution of national interest, a fact which will allow it to benefit from state and European funds, announced yesterday, in a press conference the Minister of Development, Public Works and Housing, Laszlo Borbely. The same stressed that “unfortunately, the airport has been omitted from the list of the national interest institutions since 2003, but this year, further to the presentation of the figures, which could show a spectacular rise of the number of passengers, operators and flights, a simple signature is necessary in order to include it on the respective list.” “We made efforts to bring money for the airport and to promote it as an important one, which brings clients also from the neighbouring counties such as Brasov, Harghita, Covasna, Bistrita Nasaud, Sibiu and others,” said Borbely. According to Minister Borbely at least RON 4 M will be allotted in the coming weeks from the Government reserve for investments in the airport. The same recalled also the possible return of the low cost air company Wizz Air on the respective airport. “Hopefully, Wizz Air will return in the coming period, since it has this intention. We are carrying negotiations not only for the Budapest flight, but also for the others. Now we are negotiating the tariffs,” Borbely said. He stressed that he has discussed last week with the representatives of Wizz Air for the return of the company. Wizz Air relocated in 2007 its operations from Mures to Cluj, the reason being that “the airport did not correspond any longer to the expansion plans of the company.”

Bechtel to complete 45 km from Transylvania motorway this year

Also yesterday, Borbely declared that, according to the commitment made by Bechtel, the company will complete the 45 km, more exactly Campia Turzii-Gilau segment. According to him, the budget of the Transport Ministry will be supplemented, meaning that the works will continue. Also, according to the same, the construction of the first Targu Mures bypass road, the segment Calea Sighisoarei-Ernei, will start in August. He said that the Public Works Ministry will allocate funds also for the design of the second Targu Mures bypass road, the segment Calea Sighisoarei-Cristesti.
