The bishops of the historical Magyar Churches adopted a declaration in which they express their support for the aspirations of the Magyar community from Transylvania to accomplish the autonomy, backing at the same time the organisation of referendums over the autonomy of the Szeklers’ County. In the declaration signed by the Roman-Catholic Archbishop Jakubinyi Gyorgy, the Protestant Bishops Pap Geza and Tokes Laszlo, the Roman-Catholic Bishop Tempfli Jozsef, the Unitarian one Szabo Arpad, and the Evangelical one Adorjani Dezso Zoltan, the leadership of the historical Magyar Churches stress that they support the aspirations of the Magyar community from Transylvania regarding the autonomy, and as part of it they provide moral support over the problem of the territorial autonomy of the Szeklers’ County. The Bishops of the Magyar Churches state the importance of the total unity and of an open dialogue between the representatives of all the Magyar civic and political organisations, of the local and county authorities, alongside the Churches. The signatories also consider important the representation and expression in a unitary way of these requests within the political life from Romania, at international level, in the European institutions.
